Mickens - Doris Ann, 85, of East Conemaugh, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 6, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born on March 7, 1936 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Daughter of the late J.B. and Minnie Neal Hill. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Mickens; stepmother, Dannell Allison Hill; sons, Craig P. Mickens and Clinton T. Mickens and siblings Pearline Grimes, Walter Lee Hill, Clinton “J.B.” Hill, and William “Billy” Hill. She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, Charles Gary Mickens, Youngstown, Ohio; Charlene M. Dukes, Glenn Dale, MD; Cornell Jason Mickens (Denise), Johnstown, PA; Carla D. Bell (John), Charlotte, NC; Cara J. Bennett, Johnstown, PA; Chauncey E. Mickens; and Carolyn J. Gibson (Dwight), Johnstown, PA; eighteen grandchildren, Michael, Ivenia, Maurice, Lucas, Ben, Raven, Nyree, John, Jr., Jalen, Timia, Tammy, Craig, Clinton Jr., LaRae, Kyle, Chauntay, Doritha, and Demetrius, and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Bobbie Neal, Dorothy Allison, Geralene Hill, and Helen Hairston, all of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law, Gersilee Thompson, FL and Dorothy Hill, Rahway, NJ; aunt, Irene Lowery; special niece, Stacey Hill Christmas and great-niece, Jayden; special cousin, Robert Barnett, and godson, Trevor Williams and a host of nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors, including Claudia Jones, Betty Jones, Jackie Williams, and Pauline McDaniel. Doris attended Greater Johnstown High School and received her General Equivalency Diploma. She was employed at the Fort Stanwix Hotel and Penn Furniture. Doris was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church and served on the Women’s Ministry, Missionary Ministry, and the Bible Study Group. She was a member of the Corvette Club, a ladies’ social group. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Holidays with her family were her favorite times of the year. She also loved watching MSNBC, Judge Judy, and Family Feud. The family of Doris Mickens extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Davita Dialysis Center in Richland for the care and attention provided to our mother. Family and friends will be received from 3p.m.-7p.m. on Friday, December 10, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 11, at Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 351 Second Street, Conemaugh, PA with the Reverend Maurice T. Williams, Officiating. Internment at Grandview Cemetery. Masks are required. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh.
