Ellis – Carrie Mae, 89, Johnstown, PA, gracefully answered the Lord’s call and slipped into eternity on Friday, May 16th, 2025. Born on December 16th, 1935 in Franklin Borough, Daughter of Lonnie and Hattie Judge

She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Royce Lee Ellis; brother, Lonnie Jr.; infant brother, Oppie; and sister, Norma.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her four loving and devoted children, Deborah E. (Edward) Becton, Monroeville; Devon R. (Phyllis) Ellis, Johnstown; David L., Johnstown; and Master Sergeant (Ret.) Damita Jo (First Sergeant (Ret.) Robert L. West, Jr.), Fayetteville, NC.

Carrie was blessed with seven grandchildren: Cornella R. (Vanessa) Ellis, Monroeville; Damon R. (Cee Jay) Morris, Johnstown; Kalana D. (Reece) Heller, Monroeville; Alea G. (Christopher) Green, Bowie, MD; Durell R. (Sheena) Ellis, Johnstown; Edward L. (Becca) Becton, Monroeville; and Tina (Cedric) Hesley, Detroit, MI. She was cherished and loved by ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Carries was a devoted wife and dedicated mother with unconditional love for her children. As adults, she still treated us like we were still her babies. She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reupholstering furniture, and spending quality time with her family. The joy of cooking was her favorite service to bless her husband, children, other family members, and friends. Her meals were prepared from scratch with a pinch of love, a cup of affection, and bowl of happiness. Carrie’s cinnamon rolls from scratch could stop a charging bull.

Carrie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served on the Kitchen Ministry for several years. She worked as a Nurses Aide serving several households in the Johnstown area and a sales clerk as WT Grants until she retired. After retiring, Carrie attended Hiram G. Andrews Center where she received a diploma in the upholstery program. She was the true meaning of love and the food to our souls. She will be deeply missed by her family.
