TROVATO---Basil J., 85, Johnstown, passed away May 20, 2025. Born September 24, 1939 in Windber, son of Basil V. and Mary L. (Pierre) Trovato. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Anthony and infant son, Michael. Survived by children, Sean and wife, Joni, Summerhill; Christopher, Richland; and Dana Maldet and husband, Lon, Gulf Shores, Alabama; grandchildren, Julianne (Robert), C.J. (Rebecca), Tyler, Dylan, Maddi (Rob), Kyle, Michael, Brendan, Dominic and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Evelyn, Carter, Annalise, Harper, Fia, Asher and Logan. Brother of Adeline Fry, Carmen (Frances), Mary Ellen McMillan (Chuck), Edward (Nancy) and Robert. Also survived by former wife, Judith (Diosdado) Trovato. Basil was an entrepreneur and was a founder of The Cage and Rathskeller Restaurant. He also was co-owner of two Giant Eagle supermarkets in the Johnstown area. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Basil was known to be a very generous family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He liked hunting, fishing and going to the gym. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at Noon, Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
