Rozier – William A., 84, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2022 at Windber Hospice. Born on April 24, 1938 in Johnstown, son of the late McGlaughlan Jackson and Eugenia (Tatum) Rozier. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by children, Michael Brent and Cameron Keith Rozier; siblings, Curtis, Donnie, Hazel Greenlow, Gloria King, Julia Chandler, and Ethel James. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, C. Helen “Billie” (Quarles) Rozier; children, William A. Jr., Harrisburg, Hope S. (Kevin) Wiggins, Upper Marlboro, MD, and Stephon C., Johnstown; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Harry Lee Jackson, Atlanta, GA, Mamie Peoples, Philadelphia, and Ruth Rosenfeld, NY, NY, and several nieces and nephews. William was a 1956 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. He was a US Army National Guard Veteran serving from May 1st 1955 until he retired in 1995, serving with the 28th Military Police as the Operations Sargent Major. William retired from USPS in 1995 as the Post Master in Boswell, PA. He began as a city carrier in 1960 and was also the Post Master in Central City. William was a long-time member of Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Financial Secretary for many years. He was past Grand Master of Conemaugh Valley Masonic Lodge #10. William was Worthy Patron of Conemaugh Chapter #55, Order of Eastern Star, Price Hall Affiliated. He was Lecture of the 6th District Order of the Eastern Star. William served with the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees as the local President for 21 years and also as the District Chapter of NARFE as Vice President. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch #451 in Johnstown. Also, a member of the United Post Master and Managers Association where he enjoyed attending conventions. William was a member of the 28th Military Police Retired Association. Also, a member of the American Civil Liberties Union; NRA and AARP. He loved reading books, especially history and biographies. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, with the Rev. Maurice Williams officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team.
