Carole F. Hughes

HUGHES- Carole F. (Megrenne), 84, departed for her heavenly home on September 30, 2026. Born on February 24, 1942, in Portage, Pennsylvania, Carole was the daughter of the late James and Dorthy (Niper) Megrenne. On July 1, 1961, Carole married Raymond “Ray” Hughes at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michael, Pennsylvania. Together, they enjoyed boating, camping, and operating their small campground at Raystown Lake. They shared 57 years of marriage before Ray preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Poborski, and her sisters-in-law, Norma Stephey, Regina Bailey, and Tillie Harbart. She is survived by her two children, Raymond L. Hughes and Lori Ann Gall and her husband, Stephen; her sister-in-law, Connie Blontz; and brother-in-law, William Poborski. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael Hughes, Amanda Hughes, Kathleen Hughes, and Zachary Gall and his wife, Katie; and three great-grandchildren, Silas Gates, Kinsley Gall, and Lincoln Gall. Carole was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and “Grammy Carole.” She worked at JC and Me for many years before retiring to care for her parents. Known for her strength, wisdom, and unwavering dependability, Carole was someone others could always count on. She was an exceptional cook and baker whose holiday and wedding cookie trays were second to none. Friends received from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 and from 9:30am to 10:30am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Johnstown followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, (Geistown) Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Fr.
