RIEK--James Stanley "Jim," 81, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2026. He was born on April 1, 1945, the son of James Ignatius Riek and Ann (Gawlas) Riek. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Kay (Lint) Riek; his son, Chris Riek, and his wife, Heather (Hummell) Riek; his grandchildren, Lauren Peterson (married to Adam Peterson), Nathan Riek, and Olivia Riek; his great-granddaughter, Hadley Peterson, and great-grandson, Bennett Peterson; his sisters, Annette Noll (married to Dennis Noll), Marisa Williams (married to Thomas Williams), and Gretchen Knupp (married to Harold Knupp); his brothers, Rodney Riek (married to Barbara (Hancock) Riek) and Lance Riek (married to Christine Raymond; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the family dog, Chloe, whom he loved to spoil. Jim was a 1963 graduate of Ferndale High School and a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Marketing and Journalism. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. Jim started his career at Acme Markets as an Advertising Director, before becoming a car sales manager for Alberter Buick in Richland for many years. Jim later worked for Brunnett Motors in Ebensburg before working for Emmanuel Church, from which he retired. He attended Journey Church and loved participating in the Men’s Bible Study group. Jim loved his garden and took great pride in his yard. Family was everything to him. He was a helper to everyone he knew. He was very knowledgeable in many subjects and was always available to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. Jim was an avid and talented woodworker. He loved the Lord and cherished spending time with his family. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2026 at Journey Church, 220 Maple Ave., Johnstown, PA 15901, with Pastors Ray Streets Jr. and Candi Johnson officiating.
