Marjorie J. Gillespie

GILLESPIE--Marjorie June (Hagerich), 96, of Vinco, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2024. Marjorie was born as one of twelve children on June 6, 1927 at the family homestead in Vinco, daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel (Gillen) Hagerich. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Butts" Gillespie, whom she married January 11, 1946; brothers Robert, Paul, Glenn and Rodney, sisters Faye, Helen and Mary Lou, son-in-law Harry Bowers as well as many friends and loved ones. She is survived by her four children: Diane Bowers, Timothy Gillespie, Dennis (Linda) Gillespie, and Margaret (Donald) Ochenrider. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Tammy (George) Caldwell, Patty and Heather Bowers, Julie (Timothy) Mazer, Jaime (Bryan) Parsons, Jackie Gillespie, Michele (Darren) Brown, Melissa (Scott) Stoltz, Amanda (Jason) Twardy, Megan (Bryant) Greene and Donnie (Darla) Ochenrider, as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren all whom she loved very much. She is also survived by siblings Sara Jane Leckey, David (Janet) Hagerich, Larry (Sherry) Hagerich, and baby sister Wanda (Ron) Elliott. Marjorie was a lifetime member of the Vinco Brethren Church and a member of the Jackson Township Senior Center. Some of her favorite things were playing Bingo at the Senior Center, playing Yahtzee at home and shooting pool with her brothers Rod and Larry. In her younger days, she and her husband Harold spent many years in a Saturday night bowling league. She even played cornhole for a few years in her 90's. Marjorie was always baking goodies -- her gobs, pies and fudge were her specialties -- and she was known for always having a pot of coffee and a variety of her homemade goodies on hand for anyone who stopped by. She was a Christian woman who instilled her love for God in her children and their families. She never missed going to church and loved her church family as well. On her passing, she would not want us to be sad, but to rejoice and be glad that she is now in heaven with her loved ones, whom she missed so very much. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, and again from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Vinco Brethren Church, 123 Adams Avenue, Mineral Point, with Pastor Zachary Yonko officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be directed to the Vinco Brethren Church in her memory. Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
