Wingard – William Edwin, 100, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2023. Born on January 26, 1923 in Johnstown, son of William and Trella M. (Lehman) Wingard. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Charlotte E. (Sipe) Wingard; 2nd wife, Eva (McFeaters) Wingard; daughter, Diane “Tootie” Allison; siblings, Melvyn D., Robert D., and Hazel Moore; son-in-law, Alan O’Donnell; step children, Roberta Rager, and Richard McFeaters.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Karen E. O’Donnell; step sons, Donald McFeaters, and Hal Rager; granddaughter, Katie L. Allison; numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Edwin was a graduate of Richland High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during WWII, in North Africa, Italy, and Southern France. Edwin retired from Bethlehem Steel, Rod and Wire Division, after many years of service as an Inspector. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. Edwin was a blood donor for The American Red Cross, donating over 50 gallons. He was a volunteer for the East Hills SAC Meals on Wheels for 10 years. Edwin was also a member of Richland American Legion, Post #849 and Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. He loved gardening, making pies, and working out doors. Edwin dearly loved his family, and will be remembered as an example of faith in action.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Oakland United Methodist Church, with the Rev Jeremy Berkley officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottawa Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Edwin.
