William L. Baughman

Baughman - William L., 85, East Taylor Twp., passed away on Dec. 9, 2020. Born on March 4, 1935 in Portage, PA, son of Henry and Gladys (Lingenfelter) Baughman. Preceded in death by parents, parents-in-law, Genevieve and Walter Gemza, siblings, Gloria Odenthal, Kathryn Stanchek, Daniel and Robert. William was the last surviving member of immediate family. He is survived by his loving wife, of 63 years, Barbara (Gemza) Baughman; children Richard “Rick” and Denise (John) Headlund; grandchildren, Danielle Baughman and Matthew Baughman; sister-in-law, Margaret Baughman, and several nieces and nephews. He retired from Thiele, Inc.  as a welder/leader. U.S. Air Force Veteran having served 2 hardship tours of duty, one in the Korean War and one in Saudi Arabia. Member of the Korean Veterans Association, Vinco Senior Center, Thursday Senior Bowling League and the Church of The Transfiguration. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, working fish fries at church, gardening and vacationing with Barbara. They traveled together throughout all of the 50 States including Alaska and Hawaii, Canada, Nova Scotia, the Panama Canal, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Haiti and numerous train trips and cruises. Bill’s family would like to thank Arbutus Park Manor health workers and Family Hospice workers, Amanda, Patty and Pastor John for their most loving care. At Bill’s request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Church of The Transfiguration, Fr. Robert C. Hall, Pastor. Committal, Grandview Mausoleum with Military Rites by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests memorial contributions may be directed to Arbutus Manor, Crossroads Unit, 207 Ottawa Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of William L. Baughman.
