Gleason – Walter J., “Wal”, 59, Mineral Point, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2020. Born on August 24, 1961 in Johnstown, son of James Robert Sr. and Gloria A. (Kovach) Gleason. Preceded in death by his father; sister, Sherri Gleason, and brother, David. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. (Kniss) Gleason, Nanty Glo; son, Brandon J. Morder, State College; daughter, Candice N. Kniss, Portage; grandchildren, Trent and Kiera Sikora, and Caden Kniss; brothers, James Robert (Kim) Gleason Jr., Johnstown, Paul A. (Danielle) Gleason, Oakland, and Richard E. (Gretchen) Gleason, East Taylor Township; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Wal was a graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. He was a US Army Veteran. Wal was employed a union laborer for several years. He later retired as a Lt. from Benner Township Prison, where he was employed as a Correction Officer. Wal was an active member of the Park Hill American Legion Post #970 and its Legion Riders. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle and quad. Wal loved life and was always willing to help others. At Wal’s request, there will be no public viewing. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Home, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, Fr. Robert C. Hall, Pastor. Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. Military rites will be conducted by Parkhill American Legion Post # 970 at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be directed to Park Hill American Legion Post #970, 230 Parkhill Dr, Parkhill, PA 15945 in memory of Walter. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com. Cremation by Laurel Highlands Crematory at Harris Funeral Home.
