Walter Ross Conklin

Conklin - Walter Ross, 85, Davidsville, died September 21, 2018. Born on June 15, 1933, in Cornwall, NY, son of Robert Ira and Olive Irene (Culver) Conklin. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann (Boyer) Conklin; children: Janis Coltin (William Coltin), John Conklin (Maria Esposito) and Gary Conklin (Janet Hanson); and grandchildren: Jessica, Brian, Blayne, Michael, Darian, Mary, Kali, Kathryn, and John. Ross graduated from Lehigh University in 1955 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. He began his professional career at Bethlehem Steel-Johnstown where he held various positions including Manager of Industrial Engineering, Manager of Human Resources, and Manager of Personnel Services. Ross served in the National Guard, US Army, and Army Reserves where he was honorably discharged with the rank of E-5. He retired from Bethlehem Steel-Sparrows Point after 31 years of service. He then worked as Chief Engineer for Lehigh Press (10 years) and Camden Iron and Metal (3 years). He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (Registered Professional Engineer-PA) and lifetime member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (President of the Baltimore Chapter). After retirement, Ross was active with the Korean Service Veterans Association Honor Guard, Post #1 and enjoyed golfing with his friends at Oakbrook Country Club and the GTE Retirees golf league. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with Pastor Jeffrey Bassette officiating. Military rites accorded by the Korean Service Veterans Association Honor Guard, Post #1 prior to the Memorial service at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
