Virginia M. "Jimmie" Layman

Layman, Virginia M. “Jimmie,” 96, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2019 from Arbutus Park Manor, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 25, 1922 in Johnstown, daughter of Edward and Edna (Rose) Gossard. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil C. Layman; sister Rosetta Fyock and a son-in-law, Dean Schell. She is survived by her sister Shirley Morales of Johnstown; her loving children, Jerrie Wagner and husband Ronald of Johnstown, H. Lynn of Greensburg, David R. married to the former Denise L. Shawley of Richland and Daniel R. and wife Dotty of Tyrone. Grandchildren, Billy Logue and wife Donna, Tammie Hibshman and friend Kevin, Candie Rievel and husband James, David J. Layman, and Jason E. Layman and wife Cassandra, Brian Layman and wife Denise, and Amanda and husband Trevor  Armstrong. Jimmie enjoyed 24 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great grandchild, special niece Kathy and several other nieces and nephews. She attended both Tire Hill Church of the Brethren and Arbutus Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed needle point, collecting penguins and angels. Jimmie loved going to the family cottage in Bedford. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, and again from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, Pastor Brian Simmons officiating. Entombment will be at Richland Mausoleum. The family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Arbutus Park Manor for their love and care to our mother. Special thanks to Abby.
