Ruckser – Thomas C., 89, Stonycreek Township, went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2025 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on June 9, 1936 in Windber, son of John C. and Madeline V. (Dollard) Ruckser. Preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Marie (Thomas) Ruckser, wife Geraldine J. (Mock) Ruckser, and brother John Ruckser.

He is survived by his loving son, James C. (Barbara) Ruckser, Bridgeport, WV; grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea) Kerr, Lauren (Erik) Abel, and Kenneth Kerr; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Katelyn, Lukas, and Jakob; sister, Carolyn Wahener; brother, David Ruckser, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom was a 1955 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a US Army Veteran. Tom was employed at Thrift Drug Store for many years. He later was employed Lawrence Flick State Hospital as a Lab Technician. Tom retired from Bethlehem Steel as a Standard Analyst in the Industrial Engineering Department. After retirement, he was employed at PENELEC in the Internal Affairs Department as a Security Officer. He was also employed as a Deputy Coroner with Cambria County Coroner’s Office. Tom later retired as a Sergeant from Stonycreek Township after 33 years of service as a Police Officer and accompanied by his Canine “Dutchess” for 12 of those years. He also worked as a Police Officer for Richland Township for 12 years; Cambria County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years; Cambria County Drug Task Force and FBI Safe Streets Drug Interdiction Task Force for many years. Tom was a member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren; Past Master of the former Conemaugh Valley Lodge #692 F&AM and member of the Johnstown Lodge #538 F&AM. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending holidays with family and friends.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the dedicated medical staff and caregivers at the Arbutus Park Manor Personal Care West, and AseraCare Hospice staff. A heartfelt thank you to Donald Mock (brother-in-law), Rick Csikos (nephew), and Tom Keirn (friend) who were always there to provide comfort and support to Tom and his family.

At Tom’s request, there will be no public viewing or service. Private inurnment will be held at Richland Cemetery. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
