Horner, Thomas W., 74, of Richland Township, passed away on December 14, 2010 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born on December 26, 1935 in Sidman. Son of the late Melvin and Ora (Kelly) Horner. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. (Weaver) Horner; aunt, Viona Formicola and a brother-in-law, Donnie Paul Weaver. Survived by loving sons, Mark T. and fiancé, Heidi Andrews, Windber and Craig W. married to the former Jeannine Beck, Salix; grandchildren, Andrew married to the former Diana Siplivy, Richland, Adam, Joshua and Breann Grieco all of Salix, and Matthew , Samantha and Mason all of Windber; great grandson, Tyler Horner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruby Mock and Nonie and her husband Blake Yoder all of Windber, Doris and husband Donald Harteis, Patsy Young, and Janet Weaver all of Johnstown, Gail Johns, Bonnie Edwards and Nancy Benshoff  all of South Fork, and Edward Weaver, South Fork; numerous nieces, nephews and his two buddies, Tiki and Oppie. Tom was a graduate of Penn State University. He was a poultry inspector for Maryland State. After moving back to the Johnstown area he became an Insurance Agent for Nationwide Insurance Company and later Owner and Operator of Guardian Security Services for 20 years. He then moved to Washington, DC, retiring from Dyna Electron, where he was employed as an Engineering Consultant. Tom was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Elton. While his health permitted, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending time with his sons, grandchildren and his great grandson, Tyler. Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday and from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland with the Reverend James Gay, from Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, officiating. Committal service will be held at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Dunmyer Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Thomas.
