Poprich – Sylvia J., “Sutzi”, 71, East Conemaugh Borough, went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2023. Born on September 15, 1951 in Johnstown, daughter of Robert G. and Dorothy (Lee) Piker. Preceded in death by her parents; son, Samuel Ronald; brothers, Robert and Richard Piker; sisters, Viola “Cookie” Gustkey and Carol Clark; sister-in-law, Patricia Piker, and brother-in-law, Gary Clark.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald G. Poprich who would have celebrated 50 years together in May. Also survived by daughter, Stephanie J. (Robert) Johnson, East Conemaugh; grandchildren, Tyler and Cody Johnson both of East Conemaugh; brother, James Piker (Deb Caper), both of East Taylor Township; several nieces nephews, and her fur baby, Holly Noelle.
Sylvia was a 1970 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. She was employed at Riverside and Ideal Markets as a cashier. Sylvia was a member of St. John Gaulbert Cathedral. She was always taking care of others, a true angel on earth that gained her heavenly wings. Sylvia will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She enjoyed playing BINGO and cards, but most of all loved spending time with her grandsons.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Gaulbert Cathedral, Fr. Matthew Baum, Rector. Committal will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
The family suggests contributions be directed to Franklin Volunteer Fire Company, 1125 Main Street, Johnstown, PA 15909 in memory of Sylvia. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
