Shirley J. Renz

Renz – Shirley J., 88, of Davidsville, formerly of Richland, peacefully passed away on November 21, 2017, surrounded by her family at Laurel View Village. Born January 16, 1929, Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Dorothy Habel. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, William A. Shively; 2nd husband, Leo H. Renz; grandson, Justin H. Mayer, and stepson, Craig S. Renz. Survived by loving children: Deborah L., wife of Leonard Mayer, Johnstown, PA; Diane L. Hughart and her partner, Bruce A. Ramsey, Reston, VA; and Sharon Billet, York, PA. Grandchildren: Natalie Mayer-Moldofsky, Johnstown, PA; Brewston and Brandon Hughart, Reston, VA; Cheryl Renz, Michelle Freedline, and Christina Huyett, all of York, PA. Great Grandchildren: Alexander Benshoff, Johnstown, PA; Corey and Kylee Hughart, Reston, VA; and Jared and Haydon Freedline, York, PA. Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Johnstown and also attended Laurel View Village Chapel for the last 5 years. Shirley was past Worthy Matron, Anna L. Windolph #495, Order of Eastern Star. She will be remembered for her warm hugs for everyone. Her family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Laurel View Village and Windber Hospice for their loving care. At Shirley’s request there will be no public viewing. Private burial will be at Richland Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday, November 27th at 2 p.m. at Laurel View Village, Davidsville, with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Bassette officiating. Family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
