Ruth A. Felix

Felix, Ruth A. (Beckley), 100, formerly of Richland Township, passed away peacefully Friday, February 15 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville, one day before her 101 Birthday.  Ruth had lengthy career teaching her beloved elementary students in Dale Borough and Richland Township School Districts prior to her retirement.   She loved her flowers, quilting, as well as her vacations when she could take her younger relatives and share experiences.  Ruth was member, pianist, Sunday School teacher, and Bible School teacher at the former Weaver Mennonite Church for over 70 years and subsequently a member of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. Born February 16, 1918, in Richland Township. Ruth was the daughter of the late Ralph and Emma (Hostetler) Wingard.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Galen (Martha) Wingard, Marlin (Evelyn) Wingard; and a sister Wilma (Robert) Hostetler; her first husband Landis Beckley and second husband James Felix.  She is survived by a sister Shirley (Paul) Shumaker, stepdaughter Myrna Felix, married to Phil Groom, step grandchildren Craig Ott and Pamela (Ott) McGraw and step great grandsons Chad and Steven McGraw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to like to thank and commend the staff and nurses at Laurel View Village for their kind, compassionate, loving and professional care. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  An interment is planned at Richland Cemetery.  A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ruth Beckley Felix will be held at a date to be announced later.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Laurel View Village We Care fund or to Scalp Level Church of the Brethren.
