Brown – Robert Edwin Sr., 99, of Richland, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2023 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on July 8, 1924 in Johnstown, son of Samuel H. and Ada (Wonder) Brown. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert E. Jr., and sister, Ruth Brown Korman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 78 years, Margaret Daryle (Schalles) Brown; daughter, Rebecca (James) Mayes, Davidsville; son, Richard (Susan) Brown, Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Barbara (Bedell) Brown, Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren, Jason (Erica) Brown, Timothy (Kristin) Mayes, Megan Mayes, and Austin and Benjamin Brown; great grandchildren, Andy and Sam Brown, Lucas and Carter Mayes, and Ava, Abby, and Charlie Marroquin, and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was a 1942 graduate of Dale High School. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the WWII War in the Pacific Theater as part of the China Burma India Campaign, earning two Bronze Stars. Robert retired from Exxon Research and Engineering as a Regional Supervisor. He was a member of the former Beulah United Methodist Church and the Challengers Sunday School Class. Robert enjoyed reading, singing and listening to music. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Charles L. Shaffer officiating. Military rites will be conducted immediately following the service at the funeral home by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. Private entombment will be at Richland Mausoleum.
