Wargo – Richard George, 79, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2017 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born on January 2, 1938 in Windber, PA, son of John S. and Marian (Comerer) Wargo. Preceded in death by parents; half-brothers, John Wargo Jr. and John “Buddy” Comerer. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy (Hynicka) Wargo; siblings, Mary Margaret Wargo and Larry Wargo both of Lansdowne, PA and several nieces and nephews. George was a 1956 graduate of Windber High School. He spent 6 months active duty and 6 years in the US Army Reserves. George retired from R.T. French Company after 32 years of service as a sales representative. He was a member of Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. and Richland American Legion Post #849. George was also a golfing member of the Windber Country Club for 22 years. He enjoyed golfing and watching football. George and his wife, Nancy lived at Arbutus Park Manor for 13 years, where he was affectionately known as the “Dog Walker”. He was also appointed Ambassador at Arbutus at Parker Ridge. George loved life and was a people person who will be missed by all. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. John D. Hollis officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. Private entombment will be at Richland Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions be directed to Arbutus Park Manor, 207 Ottawa St, Johnstown, PA 15904, in memory of Richard George Wargo.
