Rev. Julius C. Porcher, Jr., of Johnstown, went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2025. Born May 15, 1940, in Johnstown, PA, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, minister, veteran, and beloved community servant who lived a life marked by purpose, faith, and unwavering dedication to others. He was the son of the late Julius C. Porcher, Sr. and the late Laura M. Porcher; also preceded in death by siblings Pearl Jackson, Rosalie Gordon, Verna Mae Carter, and James E. Porcher. Rev. Porcher was united in marriage to the late Delores A. Wright for 54 blessed years. Together, they built a strong, loving, faith-filled family. He is the cherished father of Lori A. Porcher and David C. Porcher (Donna Baxter). He was the proud grandfather of the late Julius Lamar Porcher, Antoine Freeland, David J. Porcher (Laraya), Jerrin E. Porcher (Whitney Ritter), and granddaughter Jakenyia Fells (Rick Sneed) and was joyfully blessed with twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He also leaves behind special cousin, Butch Toney, a beloved godson, Deacon Michael James and goddaughter, Robin Westbrook, special nieces, Daria and Stacy, a host of nieces and nephews, and sons-in-love, Minister, Reginald C. Floyd and Ricky Britt and close friend, Ronald Coleman and many other close friends and family.
Rev. Porcher graduated from Franklin High School, where he earned varsity letters in both football and basketball. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology under the GI Bill. He deepened his biblical and theological studies at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Shaw Divinity School, the Metro-Urban Institute, and also completed coursework toward a Master of Arts in Theology.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2025 at Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church and again from 10 a.m. until time of Homegoing Service at 11 a.m. at Mt. Sinai with Rev. Maurice T. Williams officiating. Committal, Richland Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League, Detachment #287.
