Raymond H. Hughes

Hughes, Raymond H., 79, departed for his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Born July 15, 1938, in Ehrenfeld, Pennsylvania.  Raymond "Ray" was the son of the late Peter and Norma (Hale) Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his sisters; Norma Stephey, Regina Bailey, and Tillie Harbart; and brothers; Wilford Hughes and Regis Hughes. Surviving are his loving wife Carole, whom he married on July 1, 1961, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michael, PA. , two children; Raymond L. Hughes and partner, Erin Leon; and Lori Ann Gall and husband, Stephen: and a sister, Connie Blontz of Altoona, PA; and William Poborski of South Fork, PA.  He is also survived by his four grandchildren Michael Hughes; Amanda Eichelberger and husband, Joshua; Kathleen Hughes; and Zachary Gall and wife, Katie; and one great-grandchild, Silas Gates. Ray was a loving son, husband, father and Pappy Ray. Ray was a mechanic and owned his own service station. He was last employed at Greenwich Collieries as a coal miner. Ray and Carole spent many years at Raystown Lake doing what they loved; boating, camping and running their small camp ground. Friends received from 11 a.m. - 1p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Johnstown followed by a funeral Mass at 1:30 PM at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford Street, (Geistown), Johnstown, PA.
