Hite – Raymond L. Jr., 71, Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2017 at Windber Hospice. Born on November 17, 1946 in Johnstown, son of the late Raymond L. Sr. and Dorothy A. (Brown) Hite. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce D. (Petrarca) Hite; devoted son and best buddy, Jason A. Hite, married to the former Suzanne Micoud, whom Raymond adored, Annandale, VA; precious granddaughter, Sophia Alexis Hite, Annandale, VA; brothers, Michael F., married to the former Paula Flinn, Cresson, PA, who walked by Ray’s side during his battle, and Robert E., married to the former Judy Frank, Annandale, VA; brother-in-law, Brian D. Petrarca, married to the former Andrea Pollack, Greensboro, NC; nieces, Hannah, wife of Aaron McCurry, Keely Hite, Michaela, wife of Denver Claywell, Kathryn Petrarca, Lauren, wife of Rob Schaefer, and Monica Petrarca; great nieces, Eva McCurry, and Abigail and Avery Claywell, and many friends. Ray was a 1964 graduate of Johnstown High School. He also graduated from St. Francis University with a degree in Business Administration. Ray was a former employee at Bethlehem Steel and retired from Johnstown Wire Technologies Inc. after 46 years of service. He attended Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Windber Sportsmen Association. Ray enjoyed traveling, fishing, and watching the Steelers, Penguins, and the Pirates. He loved his family dearly and making friends everywhere he went. Ray was an incredible man, who walked the earth looking for ways to take care of his family, friends and help anyone in need. His family would like to offer a sincere thank you to many dear friends, especially Thomas and Illa Peterson, Ron and Jeanne Walko and family, Dave and Kathy Trusch, Mike and Lori Brisko and family, Janis and Jack Daily, Kathy Ling, and Tim and Kim Spangler, who walked this journey with him. Ray’s family would also like to thank Windber Hospice for their wonderful care during his final days. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Scott Klimke officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to either Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 or to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Ray.
