Pikovsky – Norbert James, 84, Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, went to be with the Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer, on September 16, 2019. Born on January 16, 1935 in Johnstown, son of Frank Martin and Helen Martha (Suehy) Pikovsky. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dorothy (Anthony) Tomechak, Eleanor (John) Karabach, Lillian (Bernard) Kralik, and Frank (Rosemary) Pikovsky, and a brothers-in-law, Fred Bierce, Michael Kovach, and Melvin Crissey. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (Kovach) Pikovsky; children, Norbert R. (Joyce), Conemaugh Township, JoAnn (Timothy) Trabold, Windber, and a step son, Bernard (Lee), VA Beach, VA; grandchildren, William and Matthew Trabold, both of Windber, step grandchildren, Jennifer (Adam) Grimm, Chicago, IL and Jessica, VA Beach, VA; sister, Janet Bierce, Poughkeepsie, NY; sisters-in-law, Barbara Crissey and Margaret Kovach both of Johnstown, and numerous nieces and nephews. Norbert was a graduate of the former Johnstown Catholic High School. He was a US Army Veteran. Norbert retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation, where he was employed as a Millwright. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Norbert was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed raising livestock as well as all gardening, especially growing and grinding his own horse radish. He also enjoyed building and will be remembered for his ability to fix anything. Norbert loved spending time with his family and Christmas Eve was his favorite time of the year. At Norbert’s request, there will be no public viewing. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew A. Reese, Pastor. Committal will be at Stahl Mennonite Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
