Natalie J. Zerby

Zerby, Natalie J, 94, of Richland, went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2022. Born November 6, 1928, in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Morris E. and E. Katherine (Baltzer) Strayer. Also preceded in death by first husband, Robert M. Heinze and second husband, Robert J. Zerby; and brother, James M. (Doris) Strayer.

Survived by loving children; Kathy (Robert) Criswell, Huntingdon, PA; and Jerry M. (Marybeth) Heinze, Johnstown; grandchildren, Laura (Steven) Bower, Andrew Heinze, Katherine Criswell and her husband, Justin Garber, Jason Criswell; great grandchildren, Carter and Anna Bower, Felix and Juniper Criswell Garber. Also survived by a special step niece, Margaret Medva

Natalie was a 1946 graduate of Johnstown High School, and a 1949 graduate of CVMH School of Nursing. She began her nursing career at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital and was later employed as a Staff Nurse with the American Red Cross. Natalie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnstown, where she sang in the choir and served on many committees. Later, she joined Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where she also was a choir member.

Natalie enjoyed spending 35 winters in her Florida home and the many friends she made there. She played bridge in various clubs over the years and continued to play at Laurel View Village, where she moved in 2014. Natalie especially loved spending time with her family and delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends received 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Scott Klimke officiating. Private interment will be at Richland Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 100 Scalp Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Natalie.
