Scislowicz – Matthews J., 78, Stonycreek Township, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2026 following a lengthy illness. Born on April 3, 1948 in Windber, son of Matthew J. and Dorothy M. (Czajkowski) Scislowicz. Preceded in death by his parents; and his in-laws, A. Wayne Corle and Opal J. Corle.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Linda R. (Corle) Scislowicz; son, Jeremy M. (Misty) Scislowicz; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Scislowicz and her fiancé, Jadon Heider, and Jordan Scislowicz all of Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Brenda Cover, Marsha (John) Quinn, Lisa (Walter) Mueller; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Matt was a 1966 graduate of Windber Area High School, where he was a drummer in the marching band, and served as President. Matt’s talent for drumming, had him also marching for various Drum and Bugle Corps, including the Pittsburgh Rockets and the Reading Buccaneers. He was member of local bands in the 1960’s, including the Joy Loaders and the Electras. Matt later earned his Business Degree from Columbia Pacific University.

He was employed at US Steel as a Pay Master; Business Teacher at Cambria Rowe; Marketing Manager at New Beginnings Cove Forge; and retired as Marketing Manager at United Foundry. He was also a cofounder and partner of Corporate Security Services. Matt was a long-time member of Oakland Church; Harmonie Club; life member Moxham PNA, and the Union Social. He served many years as President at Eureka Coal Heritage Foundation, where he was actively involved in the planning of Miners’ Day Weekend. Matt was Past President of the Mountain Cats at UPJ and was instrumental in starting their Annual Mountain Cats Basketball Tournament. He loved sports, especially the Steelers and had season tickets for over 50 years. Matt also was a season ticket holder for the Pitt Panthers. He loved to travel, especially to Aruba. Matt loved dancing and all kinds of music, especially the band Chicago, the Oldies and Doo-Wop. He truly enjoyed golfing with the Bottoms Up League at Champion Lakes Golf Club, where he had many friends. Matt truly enjoyed meeting new people and there was not anywhere he would go that he either knew someone or they knew him. He was very proud of his Polish heritage, but above all he was proud of his family and loved spending time with them. Matt will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family wished to extend their thanks to the doctors and staff at Memorial Medical Center, the staff at Interventional Radiology, the doctors and staff at the Crichton Center, and the staff at DaVita in Richland for their care of Matt. Special thanks is extended to all who have offered prayers and encouragement during his illness.
