Marylyn G. Harrison

April 25, 1936 — April 4, 2020

HARRISON---Marylyn G. (Alwine), 83, Johnstown, died April 4, 2020. Born April 25,1936 in Johnstown, PA. Preceded in death by husband Vernon C. Harrison, parents Biran and Pauline (Fassett) Alwine, siblings Robert “Buddy” (Pearl) Alwine, Evelyn (Frank) Tesauro, and Doris (George) Balster. Survived by sons Mark (Linda) of Gibsonia, PA and David of Johnstown, granddaughter, Haley (fiance Joseph Tremmel) of Boston, MA, and sister Margaret “Peggy” (Oden) Harrison of Davidsville. Also survived by numerous brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Marylyn was a graduate of Westmont High School. She married Vernon on April 6, 1957. She retired after many years of service from Verizon (formerly GTE) and was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served in various positions and sang in the choir. Marylyn approached every aspect of her life with gusto and was the ultimate daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was the life of the party and loved being on the dance floor with her husband Vernon. She was at her best when she was serving others, often preparing meals, baking for friends or entertaining in her home. Being “Nanny” to her only grandchild, Haley however was her most treasured role. Marylyn’s personality and laugh were contagious, and her unconditional love and caring spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. There will be no visitation. Private interment Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Please celebrate Marylyn’s life by remembering the joy she brought to those around her and the impact she left on so many. Donations can be made to Heartland Hospice, Foster Plaza 9, 750 Holiday Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
