Decker, Martin A., “ Marty” 58, of Geistown, passed away on July 6, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born November 28, 1952 in Johnstown, son of W. Earl and Mary E. (Byers) Decker and preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Julia A. (Dial) Decker. He is survived by his loving children, Shannon Decker, MA and Sophia Decker, Johnstown, now serving in Iraq; and son, Martin “Marty” Jr., Geistown. Siblings, Earl Decker, Columbia, MD, Eugene married to the former Beverly Kiseleski, Beaufort, NC, Joan Decker, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Bethany wife of Gary Rosencrantz, Harrisburg, OR, Daniel married to the former Gloria Sheftic, Pultneyville, NY, Karen wife of Bob Sloan, Johnstown, Susie wife of Ron Rosenbaum, Johnstown, Deborah wife of Jerry Schram, Centreville, MD, Kevin married to the former Kathy Glasco, Johnstown, Zachary married to the former Cheryl Rock, Columbia, MD and Fred and his long time companion Kim Coleman, Edgewood, MD; numerous nieces, nephews, and his very special friend, companion and dance partner, Kim Dishong, Johnstown. Marty was a 1971 graduate of Bishop McCort High School. He retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service as Public Affairs and Communication Specialist. Marty was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where he was an usher for 19 years. He enjoyed dancing, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, throwing darts at the Sons of Italy Club, throwing horse shoes and playing the guitar. Marty especially loved spending time with his children and family. He was fun loving and lit up a room when he walked in and will be missed by everyone that knew him. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be held at St. John Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 V.F.W. Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Marty. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
