FLEMING – Lois Ann (Bendick), 86, Johnstown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2023. Born July 29, 1937, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to parents Joseph Bendick, Sr., and Margaret (Lindt) Bendick. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Thomas P. Fleming, Sr.; siblings Joseph Bendick, Jr., and Ronald Bendick; and grandson Ryan Fleming. Survived by her loving family: children Thomas P. Fleming, Jr. and wife Linda, Janice (Fleming) Layton and husband Jeff, and Denise Fleming; and grandchildren Sarah Layton and Tyler Fleming. Also survived by sisters Margie Odgers and Linda Raco and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois and Tom began dating in the eighth grade and remained high school sweethearts. They were married in November of 1959. Lois was a caring and loving homemaker. She enjoyed taking care of her family and babysitting her grandchildren. She was lovingly known as Grandma LoLo. She enjoyed attending TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meetings and functions with her friends Betty, Connie and Kathy. She also had fond memories of baking hundreds of cookies with these friends whenever one of their children was getting married. Lois was a former member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Eric Wieczorek and staff, and Lois’s caregivers at Windber Hospital, Forest Hills Personal Care Home, and AseraCare Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. The family also extends its gratitude to Pastor David Streets, West Hills Community Church, for his spiritual support over the years. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or funeral. Private inurnment will be held at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ryan Fleming Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, 216 Franklin Street, Suite 400, Johnstown, PA 15901.
