SHANK---Lloyd R. “Bob,” and also known as “The Music Man,” 78, Johnstown, passed away on May 16, 2025 in Johnstown. Born March 10, 1947, son of Lloyd G. and Nora C. (Brown) Shank. Preceded in death by parents and former Susan Jean (Broskey) Shank. Survived by daughter, Diana Catherine Mountain, Coburn, PA; and son, Robert J. Shank, Windber; grandson, Joshua Floyd (Jalessa), Altoona; great-grandchildren, Bentley M. and Lila M. Shank. Also survived by former wife, Frances “Frannie” (White) Foster, Martinsburg. Bob attended Windber Area High School and graduated from Vale Tech, Oklahoma Farrier School of Horshoeing and Columbia School of Broadcasting. Bob started his career operating Shank’s Sinclair Station in Windber and University BP in Richland and also a station in Westmont. He ran his own horshoeing business and then went on to work at Bethlehem Steel until the 1977 Johnstown Flood. He then moved on to Penelec Mobile Maintenance and later transferred to the Penelec Meter Reading Department in Somerset from which he retired. Throughout his life, he owned his own D.J. service called “The Music Man” and worked for WWBR radio in Windber. He had a large following at the events where he was the D.J. Bob built race cars and in his early years enjoyed driving his own race car. Bob also loved hunting and fishing. Bob lost his fight on May 16th against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He battled the disease for over 2 years. His children were dedicated to him and they were by his side throughout the battle. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. At Bob’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. He will be laid to rest at Richland Cemetery next to his parents in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) at www.givenow.lls.org in memory of Lloyd R. Shank. The family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and Cremation by Laurel Highlands Crematory at Harris Funeral Home.
