Joy - Linnie Larnel Sr., 65, of Hollywood, Florida, formerly of Richland, passed away on January 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 11, 1958, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of James Tyler Jr., Margate, FL, and the late Cora Lee Joy. Linnie was preceded in death by his mother, mother aunt, Oneil Holmes, stepmother, Florence J. Tyler, special aunt, Julia Nash, and in-laws, Norman and Louise Jones.
Linnie is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 30 years: Valerie; sons: Linnie Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jamar of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; father: James Tyler Jr. of Margate, Florida; siblings: Sonya (Darryl) Long of Coral Springs, Florida, James (Jörg) Tyler III of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sabrina (Dwayne) Albritton of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Jeannine Tyler of Ocala, Florida; sisters-in-law: Sharon Jones of Richmond, Virginia, Norma Jean Jones of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Melanie (Boris) Shortt of St. Albans, New York; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends; his special aunt: Phyllis Tyler Woods; his special cousins: Carl Stephens and Dale Nash; his special friends: Jake Boyer, Peter Knaze, and Ricky Froehlich.
Linnie is a 1977 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. He was employed by Johnstown Corporation for 20 years. He retired from Peoples Natural Gas after 20 years of service on June 1, 2020. Linnie was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed traveling, grilling, going out to dinner, and watching old westerns. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Linnie was a devoted, caring, loving husband and father. His family meant the world to him. Everyone that knew him, loved him. Linnie was the rock of the family; his life was a blessing and his memory will live on forever in our hearts. Linnie will be deeply missed by all.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, January 26th, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th, at Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, with the Rev. Maurice Williams. Burial will be at Richland Cemetery. The family is being served by the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh.
