Linda “L’idea” Ann McGregor, 76, of Johnstown, PA passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026 due to complications from dementia. Born on April 19, 1949 in Johnstown, Linda was the daughter of Elizabeth “Betty” (Fisher) McGregor and Luther McGregor. She was a 1967 graduate of Richland Senior High School.
After graduating from nursing school, Linda spent the next several years working as a nurse at Shadyside Hospital, West Penn Hospital, and Akron Children’s Hospital. In the mid-1970s Linda stepped away from nursing to devote her time to raising her kids. However, her passion for caring for others continued. During this time in her life, Linda became actively involved in La Leche League, counseling new mothers on breastfeeding and mothering.
Linda always welcomed family and friends for holidays and celebrations. Over the years she opened her home to host thirteen exchange students from six countries and served as coordinator for exchange organizations.
Linda was an active volunteer in her kids’ schools. When she wasn’t busy sewing flags for the marching band’s color guard, she could be found on the sidelines of every activity and sporting event, snapping photos for school yearbooks and slideshows. It was this passion for capturing memories that led Linda to one of her later ventures as a yearbook consultant for Jostens. Linda also put her considerable talents and people skills to use as a Human Resources director for Boscov’s department store. In her later years she was able to realize a dream by portraying Mother Goose in Idlewild’s Story Book Forest.
Her children often joked that, “the world is her campfire,” as Linda did love camping, but also couldn’t keep from striking up a conversation with anyone, anytime, about anything. Linda loved music and especially enjoyed singing, dancing and karaoke. She always had a song in her head that she often didn’t realize she was humming out loud. Linda enjoyed road trips, especially to vacation at the Jersey Shore or in Disney World with her kids and grandkids.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Terence Price, and two infant daughters, Mary Ann and Amy. She is survived by four children: Dan (Danielle) Barto, Bronwyn (Chris) Duke, Kaitlyn (Coby) Hartman, and Abby (Adam) Rullo. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, who were the light of her life: Delaney, Quinlyn, Finley, Elliott, Beckett, Camden, Rowan, and Bode. She leaves behind three sisters, Susan (Pat) Yost, Lorna Kehl, and Eileen (Guy) Gontkovic, a sister-in-law, Joyce Price, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children.
