Felton - LaWanda L.,”Grandy”, 85, a Resident of Forest Hills Personal Care Home Sidman, PA, went to be with the Lord on May 5th, 2026. She was born on October 24, 1940 in Johnstown, PA. Daughter of Clarence Charles Pritts and Ida Mae (Putman) Pritts McLeod. Preceded in death by her parents and Step Father Jon Russell McLeod.
She is survived by her loving children, Kelly J. (Bruce) Transue, Hunter, NY, William C. Felton, Johnstown, J. Lynn (Douglas) Helsel, Johnstown, Russell (Patricia) Felton, Johnstown; grandchildren, Joshua (Katharine) Transue, Olympic City, CA, Jeremy (Olivia) Transue, Lake Placid NY, Jon Cody (Rachel Doren) Transue, Washington DC, Leiken and Madison Felton, both of Biloxi, MS, Lt. Col., USAF, Dustin (Maj. USSF, Lauren Lauritzen) Helsel, Minot/Cavalier, ND, Katelynn (Luke) Shumaker, Johnstown, Dr. Samantha Felton and her Fiancé, Daniel Gagne, Charlottesville VA, and Jakob Felton, Johnstown; great grandchildren, Leia & Arwyn Transue, Hunter, Steele, & Vaeda Transue, Leif & Penelope Shumaker.
LaWanda was a 1989 graduate of Mount Aloysius School of Nursing. She was a Pennsylvania State Employee Registered Nurse, first working at Somerset State Hospital then retiring from Torrence State Hospital. LaWanda was a member of Oakland Church and enjoyed many years singing in the Chancel Choir. “Grandy” enjoyed reading and watching game shows, her favorite being Jeopardy. She knew just enough about everything to be dangerous at trivia nights. She also loved watching the Steelers, the Pirates and anything starring her favorite “Cutie Patootie” foreign actor Can Yaman. LaWanda will be remembered for the best veggie beef soup, her sassy spunk and her sense of humor. Although she rarely verbalized it, she was truly thankful for the love and care given to her from the staff at FHPCH, their house cat George, and AseraCare Hospice.
At LaWanda’s request there will be no public viewing. Family and friends will be received from 10 A.M. until time of Memorial Service at 11 A.M. on Saturday, May 9th, at Bridge To Life Church, 101 Nice Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15905, with Pastor Douglas Helsel officiating. Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to Forest Hills Personal Care Home, 313 Humbert Road, Sidman PA 15955, or Amedisys Hospice 100 CTC Drive, Suite 100, Johnstown PA 15904 in memory of LaWanda.
