Survived by her sister, Marie Piurkowsky; children, Steven, Mary and Ann; grandchildren, (the loves of her life), Heather (Toby), Paul (Courtney), Shelby (Zachary) and Kelli (Kevin); along with her 7 step great-grandchildren, they will carry on the strong beliefs and Polish traditions that she lived each day. She also leaves in her family’s care her faithful companion pets, Deizel and Matchka. Josie graduated from Conemaugh High School in 1946. She also worked for Bell Telephone until she married the love of her life on August 29, 1953.  Josie was a dedicated Mother and housewife who love to cook, garden, go fishing, play bingo, paint ceramics and so much more. A past member of the former Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Conemaugh, where she volunteered countless hours making pierogi. In her later years, she and her husband joined Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, where she once again enjoyed making pierogi. Josie was a long-time member of the Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; Richland American Legion, Post #849 Ladies Auxiliary, and was also a group leader for many years for the Locust Grove 4-H. Steve, Polly, Mimi & Family: I was so saddened by the loss of your mother. She was a good woman and a person of deep faith. Family meant the world to her. I know you and her grandchildren will miss her deeply, especially around the holiday season where her love and talents shined. She will be watching everyone from her place in heaven!

May the knowledge that God has called your loved one home give you comfort in this difficult time. From what I understand, Josie was a loving mother, wife, sibling and friend. This is a perfect time to reflect and celebrate her life and influence on each of you. With love and comfort. Your USGS friends
