Stanislawczyk, Josephine S., 88, of Upper Newtown Road, gracefully joined her husband, John, in their heavenly home. Josephine was born on September 18, 1929 in Coupon PA. Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, John & Sophie Gabrysh; brother, Albert, sister-in-law, Katherine and brothers-in-law, Michael and Raymond. Survived by her sister, Marie Piurkowsky; children, Steven, Mary and Ann; grandchildren, (the loves of her life), Heather (Toby), Paul (Courtney), Shelby (Zachary) and Kelli (Kevin); along with her 7 step great-grandchildren, they will carry on the strong beliefs and Polish traditions that she lived each day. She also leaves in her family’s care her faithful companion pets, Deizel and Matchka. Josie graduated from Conemaugh High School in 1946. She also worked for Bell Telephone until she married the love of her life on August 29, 1953.  Josie was a dedicated Mother and housewife who love to cook, garden, go fishing, play bingo, paint ceramics and so much more. A past member of the former Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Conemaugh, where she volunteered countless hours making pierogi. In her later years, she and her husband joined Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, where she once again enjoyed making pierogi. She brought joy to those who heard her sing on the church choirs and with the Polish Heritage Choir. Josie was a long-time member of the Conemaugh Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; Richland American Legion, Post #849 Ladies Auxiliary, and was also a group leader for many years for the Locust Grove 4-H. Family and friends are welcome to come and celebrate Josie’s life from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh PA. Private burial will be at Assumption Cemetery. Josephine’s family suggests contributions be directed to Holy Cross Polish National Church or Cambria County Humane Society in her memory.
