DRIGGS----Joseph L. “Pappy Joe,” Richland, 82, passed peacefully at Windber Hospice on June 10, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family. Born February 17, 1944, in Johnstown, son of John F. and Rita (Felton) Driggs. Preceded in death by parents; brother, John “Jack” Driggs; in-laws, James and Eleanor Korenoski; brother-in-law, Chuck Korenoski; sister-in-law, Patricia Boyd and her husband, Tom Boyd; nephews and niece, Justin and Aaron and Melissa Korenoski. Survived by wife of 63 years, Mary (Korenoski) Driggs and children, Kimberly (Dan) Gargon, Salix; Lynne (Ray) Sefchik, Mt. Pleasant; Joseph Jr. (Sandy), Davidsville; Michael (Shawn), North Carolina; Patricia (Michael) Patula, Johnstown; and John (Angela), North Carolina; grandchildren, Canyon Gargon, Cassia (Reese) Kammerer, Annie Driggs, Katlyn Mash, Brandon (Kiara) Driggs, Abbey Sefchik, Megan (Ruben) Juarez, Brian (LeeAnna), Adam Patula, Allison (Brennan) Mikulsky, step-grandchildren, Ben, Kirsten and Elliott; 15 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. Brother of Patrick Driggs and wife, Rose and Chris Driggs and wife, Debbie. Joe was a 1962 graduate of Bishop McCort High School and a 1972 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8244 and the Solomon Run Fireman’s Club. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Geistown, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was the “Cotton Candy Man” at the St. Benedict Reunion for many years. Joe retired as a Systems Analyst for Bethlehem Steel Corporation and the former Johnstown Bank & Trust.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. SUNDAY, June 14, 2026 at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 2026 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor.
Entombment, Richland Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to Windber Hospice, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to St. Benedict Catholic Church in memory of Joseph L. Driggs. Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
