John G. Wanko, Sr.

Wanko, John G. “Bucky” 77, of Richland Township. Passed away peacefully in his sleep  Aug. 26, 2015, at Good Samaritan Palliative Care Unit at Conemaugh Medical Center. Born Feb. 6, 1938, in Jerome, PA. Son of the late John and Mary (Toath) Wanko. Survived by wife, Elaine E. (Hite) Wanko; son, John Wanko, Jr.; step-children, Brian Mintmier (Sandy), Beth Young (Daniel), James Mintmier (Paris), Sheri  Mintmier (Bob); and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Brother of Carol (Edward) Shields, Mary Reynolds and Ronald Wanko. Served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Retired from Bethlehem Steel. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Windber. John enjoyed traveling with his wife to various casinos’. At the request of John, there will be no public viewing. Private arrangements with Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
