John Milavec, Jr.

Milavec, John Jr., 89, of Conemaugh Township, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2012 at Richland Woods Assisted Living Center. He was born on November 26, 1922 in Cairnbrook, PA. Son of John Sr. and Frances (Yuko) Milavec. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Sally A. (Bizjak) Milavec; sister, Mary Murray; brother-in-law, John Nivinski and sister-in-law, Alice Milavec. He is survived by his loving children, Dr. Daniel J., married to the former Patricia Mullen, North Wales, PA, Sharon, wife of Randy Thomas, Funkstown, MD and Dennis, married to the former Ruth Stephens, Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Briana and Jonathan Milavec, Anna Marie (Chris McCauley), Renee, and Randall John Thomas, Connor and Kelley Milavec; great grandchildren, Marissa and Christopher McCauley; siblings, Frances Nivinski, Cairnbrook, PA, Joseph Milavec, Central City, PA, Andrew (Rosella Kolonich) Milavec, Cairnbrook, PA and Christina Milavec, Cairnbrook, PA and several nieces and nephews. John was a US Navy Veteran serving during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed at Bethlehem Mines as a miner and later retired from Bishop McCort High School after 25 years of service as head of building maintenance. John was a member of Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air. He enjoyed polkas and played the Button Box Accordion. John loved western movies, cooking, baking  and spending time with his entire family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3-8 P.M. on Sunday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel. East Conemaugh, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday at Ss. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Bon Air, Father Robert Ruston. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery with military rites conducted by Menoher Post #155 VFW Ritual Team. The family suggests contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, Central Region, Cambria Unit, 351 Budfield Street, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of John.
