John J. Ewasko

Ewasko – John J., 82, Johnstown, passed away on May 3, 2025 at his residence following complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Born on July 22, 1942 in Johnstown, son of the late John and Irene (Kocherkevich) Ewasko.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Michele C. (Beroldi) Ewasko; daughter, Kimberly Ewasko and her partner, Frank Wherry, both of Central City; son, John Ewasko, Geistown; grandson, Jonathan Harter, Central City; sister, Sharon (Dennis) Wilkins, Geistown; brothers, Charles (Marilyn) Ewasko, San Pedro, CA, Randy (Cherie) Ewasko, Spring, TX, and Ricky (Diane) Ewasko, Boulder, CO, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

John was employed as a Motor Inspector/Electrician for Bethlehem Steel and JAC in the Freight Car Division. He also worked for a few years as a part time policeman for Conemaugh Township, Cambria County. As a teenager, John started working with his uncle, John Hudak, at Hudak’s TV Shop in Morrellville, where he learned to repair TV’s and developed his life long interest in electronics. He had many happy and funny memories of hanging out with his cousin, Walt, and his good friend, Curly. John loved spending time with his family and pets, and looked forward to the family cook outs at his parents’ home in Cover Hill. He spent hours working on and driving his classic 1969 Buick Skylark Convertible and going to car shows. John and Michele enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada. They visited every state, but Hawaii. John received excellent care from all the staff at Windber Hospice, while at home and during 2 inpatient visits. The family appreciates the compassion and friendship John received every day from Sherrie, Windber Hospice RN, Michael, Windber Hospice CNA, and Tammy, Caring Caregivers Aide. A special thank you to Dr. Maharajh and to everyone in the medical community who treated John.
