HAGERICH----Jay L., 74, Davidsville, formerly of East Taylor Township, died September 16, 2025, at his home with his loving wife of 46 years, Donna (Ford) at his side. Jay was born December 22, 1950 to the late Helen Hagerich Moore. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel and Johnstown Wire Technologies with 47 years of combined service. Jay was a decorated U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran, having received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Jay was loved by every child he encountered. He enjoyed playing with them, especially hide and seek, and was particularly fond of teasing them. Neighborhood children were known to come to the door to ask if he come out to play. He had a deep love for serving his Lord. He spent several hours every day in Bible study and prayer. If you knew Jay, you can be assured that he has prayed for you. Through the years, Jay enjoyed visiting some who were elderly or ill. He made many, many hospital visits as well as home visits. He also visited some who were incarcerated in prison. He served for many years as a deacon and also served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher and as a Youth Leader. Jay gave his time driving people to Pittsburgh to doctor appointments, dog sitting many a dog, and opening his home to a family temporarily displaced, as well as giving financial help to many people who fell on hard times. Now in the presence of God, Jay has heard the words of his Savior, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” A Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by a Memorial service at 2 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Chapel at Laurel View Village, 2000 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, PA 15928, with Pastor Carl M. Phillips and Pastor Eric Lasure officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
