Janet E. Fochtman

March 24, 1939 — September 2, 2020

Fochtman - Janet E., 81, of Vinco, where she resided her entire life, went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2020 at UPMC Altoona with her family by her side. She was born March 24, 1939 in Johnstown, daughter of Robert C. and Jessie (Good) Varner. Janet is preceded by her parents; husband, Harry F. Fochtman; sister, Lois A. Miller, and niece, Traci D. Kohler. She is survived by “Mom said” one wonderful daughter, Kim (Dave) Hirko, Vinco; grandson, Ryan (Abby) Hirko, Hollidaysburg, and great-grandson, Ronan Hirko. Janet is also survived by brother-in-law, Bill (Dottie) Fochtman, Chambersburg; sister-in-law, Janeta Aspey, Carrolltown; several nieces, nephews, and some very special cousins and friends. Janet was a graduate of Conemaugh High School and then went on to graduate from Nurses Training and worked at Mercy Hospital in Johnstown for 31 years. She truly was an angel of Mercy. Janet loved to be with her family. Her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson and his family meant the world to her. She loved to be able to make people laugh and smile. Janet’s favorite things to do were going to the movies and listening to music. Her family would like to thank her very special care giver, Robin, for her love and care. Janet truly was the best mom, grandma “Ge”, and great-grandmother there ever was. She will be so sadly missed and will be forever in her family's hearts. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Randall W. Bain officiating. Private interment will be at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Oakland United Methodist Church, 1504 Bedford St, Johnstown, PA 15902 in memory of Janet.
