Pollino – Helene, 99, of Johnstown, died peacefully at home on February 3, 2019. She was born on November 22, 1919, the daughter of James and Mary Venetico. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cozy A. Pollino, sisters Rose Venetico and Mary Ann Stephens, son-in-law, Rick Hogan, and grandson, Anthony Pollino. Helene is survived by her son Patrick and his wife Lynne of Boston, son James and his wife Debbie of Ebensburg, daughter Kathy Hogan of Pittsburgh, and daughter Mary Louise married to Daniel Wargo of Johnstown, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helene was a 1937 graduate of Johnstown High School and worked for many years at the former Penn Traffic and Hess’s stores in Westwood. She also volunteered for numerous years at Mercy and Conemaugh Hospitals. She enjoyed trips with her family and going to Broadway musicals and the casino. She and her husband Cozy especially loved their bus excursions with their dear friends Jack and Esther Wilfong. Helene was an avid reader and puzzle player and truly enjoyed the company of her 9 grandchildren, Anthony, Kathryn, Michael, David, Amy, Tara, Rebecca, Patrick, and Daniel, and her 5 great grandsons, Matthew, Angelo, Lucas, Jack, and Nico over the years. She was a people person who enjoyed meeting others and getting to know them. Helene’s family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Kelly Lee Warshel, nurse Jaymi Barnett and aides Theresa, Peggy, Alyssa, Kayla, Melanie, Heather and the entire staff at Windber Hospice for their excellent care. Also, they would like to acknowledge the wonderful love shown to her by her caregivers, Ginny, Patty, Judy, Linda, Terrie, Kathie, Barb, Susan, Geri, and Joan. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Committal will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be directed to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Helene. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
