Helen A. "Cookie" Saula

Saula, Helen A. “Cookie”, of Franklin Borough, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2010. She was born March 16, 1929 in Johnstown. Daughter of Lazo and Damjena (Buchan) Gjurich. Preceded in death by parents; and infant son, Michael; brothers, Peter, Milan, Dusan, sisters, Ljubica, Mila, Dorothy Gvozdich and Marion Gjurich and a beloved sister-in-law, Betty Gjurich. Survived by loving husband of 54 years, Milan “Mitch” Saula; sons, Milan (Terry), Frederick, MD and Mitchell (Lisa), Columbia, MD; grandchildren, Benjamin and Sarah; brothers, Blaine and Sylvester Gjurich; sisters, Zora Locher and Betty Vuckovich; sisters-in-law, Vickie Gjurich, Mary (Bill) Kelly; brother-in-law, Nick (Emma) Saula also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Cookie was a devoted and active choir member of St. Petka’s and St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Churches for 65 years. She was also a member of Kolo Srpske Sestare and Mother’s Clubs. Cookie will be greatly missed by friends and family, especially her husband and grandchildren, Ben and Sarah, who were the joys of her life.

Friends received 2-8 P.M. on Sunday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where Pomen will be held at 7 P.M. A short service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Monday at the funeral chapel, followed by funeral service at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church at 11 A.M. with the Very Reverend Protoproesbyter Frank P. Milora officiating. Committal will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, Building Fund, 971 St. Clair Road, Johnstown, PA 15905 in memory of Cookie.
