Garreffa – Hayden R. D., 19, Ebensburg, formerly of Windber, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2022. Born on May 4, 2003 in Ephrata, PA, son of Jesse A. Garreffa, Camden Wyoming, DE and Alysia M. Petak, Windber, PA. Preceded in death by maternal great-grandmother, Betty Sandberg, and paternal great-grandfather, Alfred Garreffa.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving sisters, Jennifer and Arya Garreffa; brothers, Joshua, Cole, and Drew Garreffa; paternal grandparents, Robert and Debra Garreffa; Godmother, Amanda Daddario; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and his fiancé.
Hayden was a 2021 graduate of Forest Hills High School. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, cooking, gardening, helping animals, fishing, campfires, and walks. He loved to scavenge clean outs for “treasures”, a habit that would cause his mom to sometimes just shake her head in disbelief with all the things he would bring home. He was always helpful, constantly asking if there was something he could do to help out. Just this past summer, he gleefully volunteered to help the trash crew collect garbage for the duration of a four day music festival when a contract with a garbage collection company fell through. He was known for his hard work ethic. In fact, he had plans to start a private land care business next year. He was also known for his quirky humor, like eating weird combinations of food just to gross people out. Hayden loved his family dearly and frequently and spontaneously told them so, and will be remembered for his kind heart.
At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing. Friends will be received from noon until time of celebration of life at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests contributions be directed to Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Dr Ext, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of Hayden. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com. Cremation by Laurel Highlands Crematory at Harris Funeral Home.
