Gertrude Lehman

LEHMAN – Gertrude “Trudy” (Spangler), 86, Richland Township, died April 30, 2011, at Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born Feb. 1, 1925, in Conemaugh Borough, daughter of the late Lester Spangler (1883-1959) and Elizabeth (Markey)(1884-1926). She graduated from Franklin Borough High School in 1943. Trudy is survived by children: Scott, married to the former YoungJoo Kim, Atlanta, GA; Reyne Ellenberger, Spartanburg, SC; and two grandchildren, Richard and Douglas Ellenberger. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William in July of 2010, and sisters Agnes Coyle, Geistown; Catherine Koenig, Moxham; Elizabeth Hoover, Moxham; Frances Kiefer, Johnstown, Helen Spangler, Virginia Beach, VA; Mary Lux, Geistown; and brothers Frank, Geistown; Joseph, Johnstown; Robert, Redlands, CA. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Trudy was employed by Glosser Brothers and Grants Department Stores, and retired in 1987 from Sears Roebuck & Company. She was a member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church from 1947 to 2006 and volunteered for the Church in various roles. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, card club and vacationing in Virginia Beach, VA. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday May 13 at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. A visitation also will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Saturday May 14 followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at Saint Benedict Church, 2310 Bedford Street Johnstown, PA 15904, Fr. David S. Peles, Pastor. Memorial contributions may be directed to Saint Benedict’s Church, in memory of Gertrude Lehman. (Online condolences may be posted at www.wharrisfuneralhome.com)
