ALLISON---Gertrude D. (Hoban), 97, Johnstown, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023. Born February 2, 1926, in Windber, daughter of Henry and Amelia (Stoldolski) Hoban. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Francis R. Allison; son, Robert F. Allison; and 12 brothers and sisters. Survived by children, David P. Allison, Bedford; Mary F. Roles, Johnstown; June (Luther) Whitehurst, Roper, NC; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Allison, Johnstown. Also survived by her companion, Casey her dog. Gertrude was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Heshbon Coal Co. in Windber. Member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school. Gertrude enjoyed crafts, making ceramics, flowers, gardening and growing the largest tomatoes. Family visits and gatherings were very important to her. At Gertrude’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Entombment at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
