Mock, Gerald R., 92, of Windber. Passed away May 8, 2020. Born November 30, 1927 in Windber. Son of the late Park and Arminta (Naugle) Mock. Preceded in death by wife of 61 years, former Dorothy J. Zimmerman; brother David, sisters Bernice and Lucille; and grandchildren: Brandon and Keith Mock and Jennifer Barefoot. Survived by children, Eloise (David) Romano, Windber; Cameron (Mary Scarpino) Davidsville; Brenda (Arthur) Barefoot, Alum Bank; Sandra (Doug) Will, Sarver; Sherry (Bill) Fortier, Ashburn, VA; grandchildren, Ryan (Mallory) Romano; Chelsea (Donovan) Pepley; Marley (Brett) Oswalt; Kevin (Christy) Mock; Eric Mock; Emery (Alyshia) Mock; Joseph Barefoot; Zachary (Danielle) Will; Laura Will; Jeffrey Will; Bryan Fortier and Jenna Fortier, great grandchildren: Marina and Emerson Romano, Bryce and Shelby Mock. Graduate of Windber Area HS class of 1945 and Stonier Graduate School of Banking in Rutgers, N.J. Gerald served his Country in the Army as a sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1952. He returned to an extensive banking career from teller, loan officer, manager, and CEO of US National Bank and USBANCORP until 1988. A life member of Mt. Zion Lutheran, now Good Shepherd Lutheran Church having served as a teacher, choir and council member. Served as Past President of: Somerset Co. Bankers, Windber Business Men, Windber and Johnstown Rotary Clubs, Johnstown Chamber of Commerce, Greater Johnstown Committee, Enterprise Venture Capital, Regional Chapter of Retired Executives (SCORE). Served on Boards for: Three Rivers Bank, Johnstown Area Regional Industries (JARI), Economic Dev. Corp, Windber Community Dev., Charter Member and Dir. Emeritus Windber Hospital, Church of the Brethren Home, Mt. Aloysius Jr. College, SW PA Heritage Preservation Commission, Johnstown Vo-Tech Building Authority –Treas., Windber Municipal Authority-V. Chair; Somerset Co. Heritage and Historic Preservation, Allegheny Ridge State Heritage Park, Evangelical Lutheran Region 8 Mission Center -Treas., Penn’s Woods Council, Boy Scouts- Treas., Allegheny Lutheran Home, Life Campaign - Chair and Treas., Indian Lake Service-VP; Somerset Co. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Implementation Team for Windber Consolidated Lutheran Churches, and Capital Campaign Chair for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Co-founder of Spuds of Faith Potato Project, Somerset Co. Thrivent Financial for Lutheran, supplying nine food pantries. Established a Cemetery Trust to provide for continued maintenance of the 1909 Church Cemetery. Led a group to obtain auto bridge over Rt. 56. Inducted Windber Hall of Fame, 1984 and received SBA Advocate Award for Financial Services, 1985. Member of National American Legion and Windber Post #137. Private family viewing and services with Pastor Ruth Kocha Jensen, officiating. Private interment at Richland Cemetery with military rites. Family suggests donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 514 Shady Lane, Windber, PA 15963 in memory of Gerald. Family is being served by Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland.
