George C. Cassanese Jr.

August 1, 1956 — August 29, 2025

Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Cassanese, George Carroll Jr., 69, passed away August 29, 2025. George was born in Johnstown, PA. He lived a fulfilling life that brought him many blessings as well as many lessons. George was a high school graduate of Westmont Hilltop, where he excelled in everything from academics, sports, to the arts. He graduated with several scholarship offers including West Point and Annapolis, yet being the family man he was, chose to stay close to home to help his grandfather. He attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he received a degree in biology. He could accomplish anything he set his mind to. Always up for hard work and adventure George was the ultimate entrepreneur. He was gifted with his attention to detail, always thinking outside of the box and finishing with perfection. From landscaping, restaurants, to even opening four lingerie stores in Richmond, two in Virginia Beach, (Under Where?). His charm, charisma, and strong work ethic took him far. George had a big heart and strong empathy, often caring for people in need. He was a loving father who enjoyed coaching and teaching his kids both athletics as well as all about the beautiful outdoors. Swimming, scuba diving, dancing, gardening, you name it. Whether he was taking to the sky with his pilots license or to the sea as a diver he had a zest for life and knew how to open your eyes to it. Never forgetting a face or leaving anyone out, he was the life of any party. He had a contagious smile and energy about him that drew you in. Often recognized for his voice and dance moves, he was jokingly named the next Elvis. George knew how to have fun. He shared his compassionate heart, love for animals, and drive to aim for the stars with his children and grandchildren. They were his greatest achievements, his pride and joy. George is preceded in death by father George Carroll Cassanese; sister Mary Jane (Cassanese) Hall, niece Morgan Hall, nephew Charles Brendan Hall. George is survived by mother Ruby Jane (Medva) Cassanese; siblings Carolyn (Thomas), Christine (David); children Sam, Nicole (Drew), Lucas (Aly); grandchildren Claire, Willow, Ivy, Poppy; nieces and nephews, Jenna (LaVaughn), Juliann, Tomilyn (Cody), Kaleigh (Kyle), Tyler (Jenna). Loving pup Zoey. George’s celebration of life will be held privately at one of his favorite destinations with his children.
