Zimmerman, Genevieve M., “Jane”, 79, of Johnstown, passed away on April 17, 2011 at Arbutus Park Manor. She was born on April 21, 1931 in Johnstown. Daughter of Emory J. and Ada F. (Grine) Lehman. Preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James E. Lehman. Survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Rev. Robert D. Zimmerman, Johnstown; daughters, Linda K. wife of Stephen A. Christy, Johnstown, Ann R. wife of Robert M. Wolfinger, Johnstown, and Genevieve M. wife of Louis Grippo, Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Saloney, Diana and Eric Grippo; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Genevieve was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She was employed in her youth at Memorial Hospital as a switch board operator. Genevieve was a member of Summit Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a former choir member and Sunday School Teacher. She assisted her husband at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church as pastor’s wife and as certified Lay Speaker. Genevieve was a former member of the Jackson Township Lions Club. She enjoyed traveling through Europe and loved going to Ocean City and Bushwood, MD, Pinellas Park, FL, and Springfield, VA with her family. Genevieve was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who always put family first. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday and from 9 A.M. until time of service at 10 A.M. on Saturday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev. John H. Weaver officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com
