CROYLE - Garnet V., 105, Laurel View Village, Davidsville, passed away on 02/06/2026 at Laurel View Village. Born Feb 5, 1921, Johnstown, PA, daughter of Grace (Davis) and Waldo E. Rhodes. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Ralph F. Croyle; son, D. Keith Croyle; and brothers, Calvin, Melvin and Forrest Rhodes; and sisters Fay (Rhodes)Vorhauer, Alice (Rhodes) Mosholder and Lurane (Rhodes) Hunter.
Survived by son Grant W. Croyle and grandchildren, Holly Croyle and Ryan Croyle, Melissa (Croyle)Furry, Amy (Croyle) Nielsen, and Abby Croyle. And great grandchildren, Keaton Furry, Kolton Furry, Spencer Croyle, and Jessamae Biggs. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Other than a brief employment with Penn Traffic Store, she was a mother and homemaker. Very active in the Morrellville Church of the Brethren, Garnet was a deaconess from 1942, taught Sunday school, served on the church board and sang in the choir. Active in the church auxiliary, Garnet with other church members, assisted residents of the former Church of the Brethren Home, Windber, where she also served as Historian preserving bulletins and historic papers. Until her aging she was involved with the Morrellville Food Pantry. Garnet graduated from Ferndale High School in 1941 and maintained relationships and luncheon dates with school friends until recent years. She was well known among friends, relatives and church members as a skilled baker and chocolate candy maker. Garnet will be deeply missed by all.
Private interment will be at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland to be announced. The family suggests Memorial donations to the Somerset County Mobile Food Bank, 1686 Coxes Creek Road, Somerset, PA 15501 or to the Morrellville Church of the Brethren.
