WARSHEL - Fred E. “Pappy” 84, Scalp Level (formerly of Richland), died October 8, 2021 at home.  Born February 1, 1937, in Windber, son of Fred and Trella (Weaver) Warshel. Preceded in death by parents, brothers James and George, sister Mildred and brother-in-law, Jim Moschgat, brother-in-law, Walter Stiles and stepfather, Herman Shaffer.  Survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Nancy (Feightner) Warshel; 6 children; Wendy, wife of Michael Gnagey, Westmont; Timothy and special friend, Missy, Richland; Douglas & fiancé Diane Delva, Littleton, CO; Brien, husband of Kelly (Dick) Richland; Scott, husband of Jessica (Himes), Richland; and Sherry, wife of Tom Smith, Westmont.  Also 17 grandchildren, Michael Gnagey (Hannah), Jill Pulford (Matt) and Christopher Gnagey, Danielle, Keith and Sidney Warshel, McKenzie, Colby, Delainey and Cooper Warshel, Kelci Popovnak (Nick), Kiersten, Kayli, Jaxyn and Rylan Warshel, Keyli and Mikayla Smith, 4 great grandchildren, Cayden Samko, Laikyn Gnagey, Tyler and Bryce Pulford, and 2 future step grandchildren, Ed and Alex Delva.  Also survived by sister Phyllis Stiles, and sister-in-law, Peg (Lipus) Warshel and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was a 1954 graduate of Richland High School.  Worked at Dale National Bank, Citizens National Bank, Salix State Bank, Cambria Savings & Loan, Harvest Life Insurance, and McQuaide Trucking. Fred never fully retired, always enjoyed working part time for McIlwain Charters and URSA Logistics.   Fred enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their school and sporting activities.  They loved “Pappy's” candy apples, milk shakes, oatmeal and Wintergreen lifesavers.  Fred and his wife Nancy enjoyed entertaining together.  He played the trumpet and they sang together.  He loved traveling in their motorhome, going to Florida in the winter (snowbirds), Disney World and Caribbean Cruises.  Fred was still riding Roller Coasters at age 84.  He and Nancy have been so blessed traveling all over the United States and making so many wonderful friends. He is a member of the Scalp Level Church of the Brethren.  Friends will be received on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland and from 9:30 to time of service at 10:30 am Tuesday at Scalp Level Church of the Brethren. Pastor Mark Murchie, officiating. Entombment at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.  A special thank you to everyone at Windber Hospice for all the loving care he received.  Family suggests donations to Windber Hospice or Scalp Level Church of the Brethren in memory of Fred.
