Frank C. Fantauzzo

ALONG THE ROAD

God gifted us with Frank C. Fantauzzo of East Taylor, for 77 years. Born March 21, 1947, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Perrone) Fantauzzo. Frank was preceded in death by sisters Nancy (George) Karr, Dorothy (Edward) Worthington, and Verna Fantauzzo.

In 1966, Frank graduated from Greater Johnstown Senior High. He was a former employee of the Bethlehem Steel and Penn Traffic corporations. He retired after 30 years of service as the director of the AFL-CIO Appalachian Council Johnstown, PA, with offices in both Alabama and West Virginia. He worked diligently to obtain grants for employment and training, as well as labor and management employee assistance programs. His work impacted the quality of life for thousands of people in their service areas. Additionally, Frank worked with the Cambria County Drug and Alcohol planning council.

Frank was a proud, active member of United Steelworkers of America, Local 2635, the Greater Johnstown Regional Central Labor Council, and a long-standing member of the AFL-CIO. He was a board member of the United Way of Greater Johnstown and co-chair of their Labor Participation Committee. From 2014 to 2017, Frank served as the Chairman of the Cambria County Democratic Party.

Frank was baptized at the Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, where he was a member. Seeking a house of worship that was open during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Frank began to attend the Jefferson Memorial COGIC, church.

Frank led an exciting life. He loved music and was a great dancer, often attending concerts, festivals, and spending evenings beside the piano with his wife, “Kimmy.” He enjoyed amusement park thrill-rides, skiing, island getaways, shooting pool, smoking a good cigar, and playing card and board games. Frank could cook. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and often attended the Penn State football games. Frank was affectionately called “Poppy” by his grandchildren, all of whom he loved beyond words.

Frank leaves to cherish his memories: daughter Lisa Fantauzzo (late, Richard); his loving wife and caregiver Kimberly (Bennett) Fantauzzo; stepchildren Jonathan, (late, Jacques), Gabriella, and Raven; nine grandchildren; siblings Rose (late, Robert )Loughner, Alfonse Fantuzzo, Frances (late, Vernon) Jones, twin Carol (Kenneth) Yarina, and Paula Fantauzzo; brother-in-law Craig (Francine) Bennett; the Rodkey family of Johnstown, PA; the Perrone family of Barnsboro, PA; and the Schompert family of Elyria, OH; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, special and adopted family and friends. Frank dedicated his life to the service of his community. He will be deeply missed.
